About the forum

St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum - a unique place, where every year specialists from the sphere of culture, politics, public authorities and businesses meet each other. The most pressing issues concerning the development of the modern world and Russian cultural life are being discussed here. Forum events allow experts, investors and potential partners interested in the implementation of federal and regional projects, to have an open dialogue and exchange of experience. At the same time, the Forum helps ordinary citizens of St. Petersburg and visitors to become closer acquainted with specific areas of culture, to gain new knowledge and an unforgettable experience. 

 

The IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum was held on December 14-16, 2015, and was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO.

     - Supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum is being held in accordance with the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation, and seeks to promote protection and development of Russian culture, support cultural initiatives at regional, federal and international levels, and develop international cooperation in the cultural sphere.

 

Forum's main goals are:

     - preservation and elaboration of Russian culture, of heritage and traditions of peoples and regions of our country being the essential strategic resource of its development;

     - support for cultural initiatives at regional, federal and international level;

     - development of international cultural cooperation;

     - support of high public image of Russian culture and its achievements, provision of wide public access to them;

     - promotion of Russian language as an international communication language, and popularization of Russian literature within the country and abroad;

     - forging partnerships for efficient and professional implementation of state programs designed for support of Russian literature translation into foreign languages;

     - engaging the oncoming into world and national culture

     - development of Russian and foreign cultural tourism for the purpose of active regional cultural historical heritage objects involvement in tourism turnover;

     - positioning of St. Petersburg as Russian "cultural capital" and one of the world's cultural centre.

The St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum will offer a convenient space for promotion of innovative ideas and projects in the Russian and international cultural contexts, presentation of cultural projects and achievements in all spheres of art. The IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum will include more than 150 events, which will be divided into four flows:

    

OFFICIAL EVENT FLOW

The official event flow included key events with participation of leading Russian cultural institutions, cultural institutions from other countries, federal and regional bodies of executive and legislative authority, heads of leading Russian companies. The keynote event in the official flow was the opening ceremony of the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum with participation of the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova, opinion leaders in the sphere of culture, politics and business. The official flow included the research convention entitled “Traditional Culture and Modernity,” the symposium “Theater Heritage: Protection, Reconstruction and Reconsideration of Stage Texts,” and the conference “Big Screen Films: Restoration and Development,” and other events.

 

BUSINESS EVENT FLOW

The business flow brings together events focusing on investment attractiveness of cultural institutions and measures to support major cultural initiatives.

Keynote speakers at business flow became the representatives of Russian and international business communities. The participants and guests of the Forum attended round-table discussions and panels, such as “Social Theater” Round Table Discussion, an international conference of heads of concert organizations of Russia and Europe, the round-table discussion on innovative methods of attracting spectators to concert halls, Russian and European experience, and synthesis of literature and music as a special form of concert repertoire, and other events.

 

EDUCATIONAL EVENT FLOW

The education event flow focused on exchanging experience between Russian and foreign specialists, acquiring new knowledge, skills and abilities. The events in this flow included lectures and workshops by recognized educators, opening of educational centers, presentations of innovative projects and programs, such as Social Theater workshop, Folk Choreographic Heritage workshop and others.

 

PUBLIC EVENT FLOW

The public event flow offered the participants and guests of the Forum and residents of St. Petersburg various entertainment events which was held under the auspices of the Forum: theater and music shows, exhibitions, concerts, literary readings, presentations of new art, exhibition, and theater projects.

The St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum invites volunteers for work in 2016 on the main events.

 

The Forum is a unique international venue for annual meetings, productive and open dialog and exchange of experience between experts in culture and cultural policy, representatives of state bodies, politicians and business people. The Forum discusses issues related to development of Russian and international cultural life.

 

For the volunteers the Forum is an interesting international experience, knowledge, useful acquaintances, special bonuses and thanks from the organizers. Such participation does any resume of a young specialist more attractive to the employer.

 

To join team of the volunteers it is necessary to download the resume, to fill it and to send on volunteers@culturalforum.ru. Organizers will consider the application and will answer soon.

 The history of St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum

 

I St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum in 2012

 

The total number of participants of the forum - 70 guests (30 foreign).

300 visitors (100 of them - journalists)

 

Functioning individual sections are not available.

 

One venue - Mikhailovsky Theatre.

 

The purpose of the Cultural Forum is to define the coordinate system for the future, creating conceptual directions for following cultural forums, as well as finding solutions to global problems with the help of culture. It was the cultural dialogue in the name of world peace and harmony. Culture is understood not only as a set of cultural values, but also as a phenomenon of human spiritual life. The challenge now is to provide an understanding of the role of culture in all aspects of human life and to develop mechanisms to increase the influence of culture on the mind and life of the people. Culture not only helps the spiritual and emotional development of the individual, but also solves global problems. The main objective of the Cultural Forum is to bring to people's minds, that culture can save the world.

 

Ideologically Cultural Forum consisted of two parts:

Discussion, scientific and philosophical part

Illustrative part

 

The main objective of the discussion, scientific and philosophical part is to develop cultural cooperation directions, giving start to the solution of global problems, to find ways of interaction to solve these problems with the help of culture, awareness of the impact of culture on political matters, economics, war and peace, national and racial problems.

 

Illustrative part demonstrated cooperation to create specific projects of different cultures, peoples, countries and continents. The main task - not to demonstrate the achievements of one culture, but to show the successful interaction of different cultures, make it clear that the language of culture and art has no boundaries and is able to resist the ethnic, religious, economic and other disunity.

Cultural Forum also accompanied by a cultural program, which demonstrated the inter-ethnic cultural achievements. The purpose of the cultural part is to show how people united by one idea and the power of art, become closer to each other and acquire mutual understanding and harmony.

 

Forum by its structure consisted of the following units:

The political part (Minister of Culture and heads of the departments of culture of different countries) - in plenary session.

Professional program (art managers, curators, artists, scientists) - in the form of round tables and seminars.

Festival and exhibition program (intercultural activities, events, works created in the symbiosis of cultures, the best examples of multicultural interaction).
