The key topics of discussion at the section will be the role of individuals in collecting and preserving the cultural heritage, as well as the issues of restoring painting masterpieces in modern Russia.
As part of the public flow of Museum and Exhibition Projects the State Museum of Religion History will present an exhibition entitled “Preservation of Cultural Heritage” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO, a round table discussion “Pushkin’s Heritage in Contemporary Society,” a discussion “Museums of Leningrad During the War,” and other events.
The work of the section “Museums and Exhibition Projects” at the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum during the 70th anniversary year of UNESCO will be led by the director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky.
Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovsky is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the Presidium of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for Culture and Art, member of the Presidential Council of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, professor of St. Petersburg State University, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of St. Petersburg State University, president of the Union of Museums of Russia, president of the World Club of St. Petersburg Citizens, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the European University in St. Petersburg, corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute, editor-in-chief of Khristiansky Vostok Journal. Dr. Piotrovsky is a member of the Council of Europe Consulting Group on Exhibition Activities.
