24 Russian circuses will recieve new cinema equipment

At the plenary session of the “Circus and Street Theatre” section the head of the Department of the Administration of Property and Investment Policy of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Boris Mazo claimed that new film equipment would be introduced in 24 circuses in Russia. This plan will be realized in the year of 2016 within the framework of the Year of Cinema. Circuses will be showing social, children’s and documental films.

Boris Mazo also said that two model circus projects for underpopulated Russian cities (400-500 thousand citizens) are currently in development. The first one concerns the building of universal transforming constructions for circus performances as well as cinema showings. The second one includes providing the circus performers with dormitory rooms.

The meeting, which took place as a part of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, attracted such participants as Rosgortsirk CEO Vadim Gagloev, the Bolshoi St. Petersburg State Circus artistic director Slava Polunin and head of the Department of the Administration of Property and Investment Policy of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Boris Mazo.

“Communication is the most important aspect of life”, — said Slava Polunin at the opening of the plenary session. “Long live the Cultural Forum, the real festival of communication!”

The section will host some discussions and meetings as well as master classes by Jango Edwards, a comedian from Amsterdam, and Alexander Frei, a French circus performer. One of the greatest events of the Forum will be the reopening of the Bolshoi St. Petersburg State Circus, which has been under construction for over a year and a half. The circus ceremonial performance will become a real gift for the audience.
