Participants of the IV St.Petersburg international cultural forum were able to see an exclusive show in the Circus on Fontanka. The show was created specifically for the grand opening of the Circus and will never appear on stage again.
"A special ceremonial presentation of the Ciniselli Circus" visited the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vyacheslav Makarov, General Director of "Rosgostsirk" Vadim Gagloyev, artistic director of the St. Petersburg State Circus Slava Polunin, USSR People's Artist Oleg Popov and Joseph Kobzon.
The Governor Georgy Poltavchenko noted, that after the restoration the famous Circus on Fontanka brought back not only its appearance but also the name - it is again called Circus Ciniselli. By the way, in 2015, it celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the circus - the artist Gaetano Ciniselli. "Circus on Fontanka - is an essential part of culture in St.Petersburg and in our country," - said Georgy Poltavchenko. USSR People's Artist Oleg Popov also expressed his gratitude for the transformation of the circus, "Thanks to Rosgortsirk for that they found an opportunity to restore the old Ciniselli circus".
"Every Leningrader and St. Petersburg citizen since childhood is familiar with this unique atmosphere of magic and expectation of a miracle that prevails in our Circus on Fontanka. From an early age we have been watching with admiration the life of circus performers on the arena, and when we became adults, we have never ceased to wonder at sometimes difficult and dangerous circus acts. Because the circus - is the art out of time and age, "- said Vyacheslav Makarov.
Iosif Kobzon ,who was also present at the celebration opening of the Circus on Fontanka, said: "St. Petersburg once again showed the world an example of how to relate to art and culture."
The show was opened by a legendary "sunny" clown Oleg Popov, who has not been in St. Petersburg for 26 years. For spectators an extremely flexible and graceful girl Olga Yevtushenko performed, also visitors watched an attraction "On the elephants around the world," the trained pigeons and horses, as well as many other unique performances.
During the renovation, which lasted about one and a half years, Circus has changed significantly: in summer a second dome of the building was mounted, and in autumn the interiors and many lost parts were restored. Guests were greeted with an updated auditorium with cosy armchairs and a spacious lobby.
For all other spectators Circus on Fontanka will open its doors only on Friday - December 18. The artists have prepared a special presentation of "Ball at Ciniselli or 1001 Cinderella." "Royal Circus Gia Eradze" will create a fairy-tale world. The troupe was awarded many gold medals and was declaired "Best Show of the Year" at the International Circus Festival "Master". Power acrobats, trapeze artists and tightrope walkers will perform difficult tricks.
