Sergei Prokofiev’s grandson will take part in the celebration of the great composer’s 125th anniversary

Gabriel Prokofiev will become an honorary member of jury at the Second National competition “Prokofievs’ time” that will take place in 2016. It will be dedicated to electroacoustic music and will be timed to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. There will be two national premieres of works by Gabriel Prokofiev, grandson of the genius of Russian classical music of the XXth century, at the opening and closing ceremonies of the music festival. This was reported today at the meeting of the participants of the section “Music” at IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.

The initiators of the program – The Glinka National Museum Consortium of Musical Culture - introduced the list of events in 2016 dedicated to the celebration of the outstanding composer’s 125th birthday anniversary to the broad audience.

The events of the anniversary year will be located at central venues in Moscow such as Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Moscow International House of Music, VDNKh, Glinka National Museum Consortium of Musical Culture, National Centre for Contemporary Arts and other ones.
