Draft of Declaration on the Protection of culture in the areas of armed conflict was presented at the final session of the Forum

On Wednesday, December 16, in the Atrium of the Hermitage General Staff building participants of the final session of the IV St.Petersburg international cultural forum got acquainted with the results of their activities in all sections - A project of the St. Petersburg Declaration on the Protection of Culture in areas of armed conflict.

The Declaration contains 16 paragraphs in which the Forum participants condemned the destruction of cultural heritage and the plander of valuables in the countries where armed conflicts occur, also required to stop them. They draw UNESCO's attention to the necessity of strengthening the potential for rapid response to emergencies in the field of culture.

Moreover, during the session  heads of the sections summed up the three-day intensive work. So, the head of the section "Theater", a director Andrey Moguchiy said:"The Forum made a step towards the reunification of the divided theatrical community." He also emphasized that modern Russian theater is not only our heritage, but our sore point, and encouraged to protect the heritage from the unenlightened aggression.

The head of the section "Circus and street theater" Slava Polunin shared plans for next year, which arised at the Forum. He spoke about the desire to revive the clown school and to create an information center, where anyone will be available to get any materials on the domestic circus.

This year the Forum presented the section "Mass Communications" for the first time within four years of its existence. Its leader, chairman of the Association of consulting companies in the field of public relations (ICCO) Andrei Barannikov, stressed the importance of interaction between the media and culture.

Also, the results of the Forum were reckoned by Sergei Stadler, Mikhail Piotrovsky, Vadim Gagloyev, Alexander Turgaev, Boris Eifman, Semyon Mikhailovsky, Oleg Ryzhkov, Nikolai Kropachev.
