Boris Eifman: “The central topic of the section “Ballet and Dance” will be the problem of preserving the masterpieces of classical choreography.”

The “Ballet and Dance” section traditionally gathers leading international choreographers. The curator of the section is Boris Eifman, People’s Artist of Russia, Artistic Director of Boris Eifman St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre.

 

Representatives of the UNESCO International Dance Council and other leading international experts in dance will come together to discuss the issues of restoration and adaptation of classical performances with the goal of developing professional recommendations on preserving the most important masterpieces of dance and reviving the lost scripts of great choreographers.

 

“This year the “Ballet and Dance” section will focus on preserving the masterpieces of classical choreography, which to this day remain the important foundation for all workers of the art of ballet. Symbolically, the IV Forum will be held in the year of UNESCO’s 70th anniversary. Our section will try to make a worthy contribution to celebrating this important anniversary,” Boris Eifman said.
