The Russian government has approved a plan of celebrating the 200th anniversary of the French and Russian ballet soloist, choreographer, theater director and teacher Marius Petipa. The anniversary date will celebrate three years later - in 2018, but today we know that the plan includes activities in the St. Petersburg Cultural Forum.
The order text is published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers. Document is developped on the basis of proposals of the Ministry of culture, Ministry of education and science, the Russian archives and Russian print, variety of activities were included in program.
– Among them – Russian and international contests of ballet artists and choreographers, exhibition projects and events in the St. Petersburg cultural forum, the gala concert of young ballet stars in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, creative workshops of the ballet art in the Russian regions and other events, – said in the explanatory note to the document.
More about the celebration program will be discussed in the framework of the forthcoming Forum at the round table dicussion "the House of Petipa" on December 15 at the Vaganova Academy of Russian ballet, who will be moderated by the ballet dancer, rector of the Academy Nikolai Tsiskaridze. The participants will also speak about choreographic education, about the future of buildings of Vaganova ballet Academy, as well as how to perpetuate the memory of Petipa in St. Petersburg.
