36 Ministers of Culture will participate in the cultural Forum

 

Today, December 3, at the Conference Hall of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg press conference was held devoted to the preparation and holding of the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.It was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alexander Zhuravsky, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Kirillov, director of the State Hermitage and the head of the section "Museums and exhibition projects," Mikhail Piotrovsky, the artistic director of "Russian State Academic Drama Theatre named after A. Pushkin" (Alexandrinsky Theatre) Valery Fokin, artistic director of the" Petersburg-concert", principal conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg, People's Artist of Russia and head of the section" Music" Sergei Stadler.

 

IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum will be the largest in the history of the event. According to the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Vladimir Kirillov, this year the Forum and its preparation are implemented in more detail. There are about 7000 already registered participants. "The program includes about 190 events that are to be held at 82 venues in our city. Events will be divided into four streams: business, official, educational and public. Total will be organized 12 sections, which will be led by well-known cultural figures," - Kirill said.

 

According to Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alexander Zhuravsky, an event will be attended by the Ministers of Culture of 36 countries, as well as the expected arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin and UNESCO Director-General Ms. Irina Bokova. "The forum has very good prospects to become an influential international platform for discussing strategies for the future of culture. It is good, that, despite the difficult foreign policy events, authoritative representatives of the various branches of culture- theater, circus and literature still come to us", - he said.

 

Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky told reporters that for the UNESCO cultural Forum could be an important turn. "Today the world is in very complex situation, there are occuring armed conflicts. In these circumstances, the use and preservation of cultural monuments is particularly acute. And the forum could be an important turning point in his decision", - explained the head of the section "Museums and exhibition projects."

 

Another important topic discussed by the participants of the Forum, touched the artistic director of the "Russian State Academic Drama Theatre named after A. Pushkin" Valery Fokin. He noted that one of the main events of the section "Theater" will be a round table discussion titled "Author's Theatre. The interpretation of classical texts": "This is a very important and topical issue today. It is incredibly painful and always comes up in the theater. Sometimes the issue fades, and sometimes explodes again. Today is just the time when it is discussed very actively. Where are the boundaries? What can and what can not be? It is important that for the discussion we invite representatives of the professional community with a variety of views."

 

Chief conductor of symphony orchestra of St. Petersburg, People's Artist of Russia and head of the section "Music" Sergei Stadler said that the guests of the Forum this year will see a rich program. In addition, Stadler said that part of the activities designed specifically for St. Petersburg citizens and guests: "Some people think that shows that we are giving are elite and people could not see them. This is not true. We play these concerts for our demanding St. Petersburg public. This is our gift to them."

 

IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum will be held from 14 to 16 December, timed to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO. In just three days, the participants will visit more than 300 cultural events at 80 venues in the city. 12 sections led by well-known artists: Fedor Bondarchuk, Vyacheslav Polunin, Boris Eifman, Mikhail Piotrovsky, and many others. The forum was founded in 2012 as a unique platform for international meetings, free dialogue and exchange of experience between experts in the field of culture and cultural policy.
