Ballet dancer Igor Zelensky will participate in the section "Ballet and dance"

 

This year People's Artist of Russia Igor Zelensky will come to the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. Winner of the National Theatre Award "Golden Mask" now directs the ballet troupe of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko, and is the premier of the Mariinsky Theatre.

 

Zelensky has repeatedly invited as soloist in the leading theaters of the world. As the main soloist he has performed at the opera house in Milan "La Scala", the Bavarian State Ballet, at theaters in Boston, San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, and was a soloist of the Royal Ballet and premier of New York City Ballet.

 

Igor Zelensky at the Forum will take part in the round table "Classical heritage - Museum or Theater?" on December 14 in the Mariinsky Theatre. The event is timed to the 70th anniversary of UNESCO and the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great choreographer Marius Ivanovich Petipa. Igor Zelensky and other authoritative figures of ballet art world will discuss how to save, restore and adapt classical masterpieces of choreography for the modern viewer.

 

This theme is now gripped by professionals, critics, researchers of the ballet, as well as spectators and admirers of dance. Some argue for the most accurate and complete restoration of classic productions, others - argue their right to artistic reinterpretation of well-known masterpieces.
