Today is the 150th anniversary of the birth of great composer Jean Sibelius

 

Festive events in honor of the anniversary of the great Finnish composer Jean Sibelius will take place throughout the whole 2015. In Finland, a musical event held today in the central square of Helsinki, where all the participants will perform the symphony "Finland". In St. Petersburg, the Hermitage Theatre the audience will hear the concert "Sebelius Gala."

 

In the framework of the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum were planned activities on this important date for the musical community. In Sheremetyevsky Palace on December 14 Julia Stadler will perform piano miniatures and "Valse Triste" by Jean Sibelius. In addition, on the final day of the Forum will be a concert by the Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg led by Sergei Stadler. In the General Staff of the Hermitage, where he will host the event, it will bring together Russian and Finnish musicologists.

 

Jean Sibelius - the famous composer of the XX century. He gained international fame because of symphonies, but his violin concerto and numerous symphonic poems are also popular, including " Pohjola's Daughter," "Night Ride and Sunrise " and "Tapiola". In 1906-1907 Jean Sibelius visited St. Petersburg and Moscow, where he met with Rimsky-Korsakov and Glazunov. Music by Finnish composer was a decoration of the repertoire of many prominent musicians and conductors of the XX century.
