Participants of "Literature and Reading" section will sum up the Year of Literature

 

On Monday, December 14, the “Literature and reading” section will open its doors for the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. Here, on the meeting of Organization committee of the Year of Literature, participants and experts will sum up the Year, discuss a perspective of Saint Petersburg becoming the reading capital in framework of the UNESCO competition. The Year of Literature will also transfer the baton to the Year of Russian Cinematograph on the Grand Ceremony of opening the Forum.

 

Experts in literature and education will have only three days to visit 4 international practical conferences, 3 round tables, several meetings and many other interesting events. The Plenary meeting called “From the Year of literature to the reading country” will be one of the most noticable event which is taking place at 2 p.m. on the 14th of December at Saint Petersburg State Academic Capella. There also will be held the presentation of the project of creating the list of 100 history, culture and literature books of Russian peoples. The moderator of the meeting is the head of «Literature and reading» section Ludmila Verbitskaya.

 

At the meetings and conferences speakers will be told how to promote reading to people describing successful world and Russian examples. The “Government and law management in publishing and book business, popularizing a book culture. Regions practice and perspectives” discussion in The Presidential Library will be held on 14th of December. Politics and businessmen of the book industry will talk about government regulations in this area, and also about tendencies of its development. According to regional and federal project examples experts will analyze the anti-piracy law and the fulfilment of obligations to support bookstores by the President of Russia.

 

There will be a special registration for journalists who want to visit the event in The Presidential Library that will last until 10 a.m., December 11.
