Discussion related to the main mission of UNESCO to conserve and preserve the tangible and intangible cultural values.
It is proposed to consider the role of prominent Russian scientists ethnographers and archaeologists who have made an invaluable contribution to the preservation and study of World Cultural Heritage.
The report highlights the activities of A. Miller (1875-1935), an archaeologist of world renown and his students, the future director of the Hermitage Mikhail Artamonov (1898 - 1972) and Boris Piotrovsky (1908 - 1990).
